Qatar News Agency reported that Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani met with Dr. Nasser Ahmed Al Muhaisen on Tuesday in Doha. As chairman of the Qatar Media Corporation, Al-Thani joined the Kuwaiti undersecretary for talks that reviewed aspects of cooperation in joint media relations between the two countries. The participants also examined ways to support and develop those relations together with mechanisms intended to strengthen media communication and coordination.
The two Gulf states maintain deep historical bonds that extend to their roles as founding members of the Gulf Cooperation Council established in 1981. According to an analysis on ResearchGate of bilateral trade among GCC countries, Kuwait and Qatar account for 10 percent and 8 percent of intra-GCC imports along with 4 percent and 5 percent of intra-GCC exports. These connections illustrate the potential for media initiatives to further economic and cultural exchanges.
Figures from the Observatory of Economic Complexity indicate that Qatar exported 234 million QAR worth of goods to Kuwait in March 2026. That amount reflected an 81 percent drop from the 1.23 billion QAR recorded in March 2025. Such trade data underscores the value of sustained dialogue across sectors including information and media to support overall bilateral engagement.
High-level contacts between Qatari and Kuwaiti officials have addressed multiple areas of mutual interest in recent times. The information and media field represents one avenue where alignment can amplify joint positions on regional matters. Al Muhaisen’s visit fits within a series of such interactions that reinforce partnership frameworks.
The Qatar Media Corporation manages key broadcasting and publishing outlets that project the nation’s perspectives globally. Coordination with counterparts in Kuwait can enhance content sharing and joint projects. This latest meeting, as detailed by Qatar News Agency, highlights continued efforts to advance these objectives.
