The Brookfield Middle East Partners fund will pursue transactions in the financial, industrial and technology sectors across Saudi Arabia and the wider region, according to a statement from the firm. Brookfield Asset Management, which manages more than $1 trillion in assets globally, said it had secured the commitments from anchor investors that include the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. The statement added that the vehicle would allocate 50 percent of its investments to Saudi Arabia.
Brookfield said in a statement that the fundraising reflected growing interest in the region. Bruce Flatt, chief executive of Brookfield, said, “We see a compelling opportunity to partner with businesses across the region and position them for long-term growth.” He pointed to global confidence and strong demand for private equity opportunities in Saudi Arabia and the region.
A Mordor Intelligence report placed the Middle East and Africa private equity market at $45.7 billion in 2025 before an expected rise to $50.6 billion in 2026, with the assessment forecasting expansion to $84.3 billion by 2031 at a compound annual growth rate of 10.8 percent. Global private equity firms have increased their activity in the Gulf over recent years. The trend has been supported by access to major sovereign wealth funds and an expanding pipeline of deals particularly in infrastructure.
Yazeed A. Al-Humied, deputy governor and head of MENA investments at the Public Investment Fund, commented on the collaboration in the statement. “Our partnership with Brookfield is designed to help anchor international private equity into Saudi Arabia and the region,” Al-Humied said. “It will also accelerate deal flow while continuing to bring world-class expertise to the local capital market ecosystem.”
Brookfield participated in a separate $16 billion agreement announced on Saturday with Kuwait Petroleum Corp for a lease and leaseback of the energy company’s crude oil pipeline network, the statement noted. That transaction moved forward despite regional geopolitical concerns linked to the Iran war. S&P Global Market Intelligence data showed Middle East private equity deal value climbed to $12.72 billion year to date through the end of November 2025, exceeding the full 2024 total by more than 46 percent.
The Public Investment Fund has pursued multiple partnerships with international managers to support Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification goals. Brookfield’s latest vehicle forms part of that pattern by channeling capital into local businesses. The firm did not disclose additional limited partners or specific return targets in its initial announcement.
