Visit Qatar announced earlier this month that it will introduce a unified digital ticketing platform in the fourth quarter as part of efforts to simplify event access for residents, visitors and sector partners. Chief executive Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi revealed the initiative during the launch of the Qatar Calendar 2026/2027, which consolidates festivals, championships and cultural activities under a single national umbrella according to the organisation. The platform is designed to function as a comprehensive gateway that connects tourism operators, event organisers and audiences while reducing friction in the booking process, Al-Mawlawi stated at the event attended by public and private sector representatives.

The calendar features more than 560 events spanning sports, entertainment, culture and family experiences through September 2027, Visit Qatar reported. Qatar Tourism chairman Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji described the calendar as a unified national platform that amplifies events delivered by entities across the country and serves as a trusted information source for media and audiences. Al-Kharji noted that the initiative supports broader coordination in the events ecosystem and contributes to activity in tourism, hospitality and retail sectors.

Al-Mawlawi highlighted parallel digital enhancements including a new Visit Qatar Widget initially for Apple users that displays upcoming events directly on device screens without opening the full application. The Visit Qatar app has grown to more than 230,000 users in 2026 from approximately 105,000 the prior year, according to organisation figures that also record 1.6 billion social media interactions with the calendar this year. These tools form part of ongoing infrastructure improvements tied to the country’s designation as GCC Tourism Capital 2026 by the GCC General Secretariat.

The ticketing platform will integrate with existing Visit Qatar digital properties to offer seamless discovery and purchase options for activities ranging from international sporting fixtures to desert festivals. Al-Mawlawi said the development reflects confidence that the system will deliver benefits to all stakeholders and urged engagement with the initiative. He linked the platform to wider ambitions for a digitally enabled visitor journey that complements services such as the Hayya platform, which provides visas for more than 100 nationalities.

Qatar Tourism has pursued year-round destination positioning through sustained investment in events and technology, a strategy reinforced by the calendar’s launch according to statements from the launch event. The unified approach brings together nearly 780 stakeholders from government and private entities, Visit Qatar data shows. Officials emphasised that enhanced digital access will help expand event reach among both domestic and international audiences while strengthening Qatar’s regional and global tourism profile.

Further details on integration with artificial intelligence tools and personalised concierge services were outlined in related announcements from Visit Qatar this month. The organisation has positioned itself among the first in the region to deploy generative AI for travel planning, with features that generate custom itineraries based on user preferences. These advancements align with the forthcoming ticketing system to create a more connected ecosystem for exploring attractions, events and experiences across the country.
