Mwani Qatar said in a post published on the social media platform X on Monday that its ports received approximately 866 vessels and handled more than 493,000 standard containers during the first half of 2026. The announcement highlighted the role of the facilities in supporting the country’s maritime trade. According to the post, general cargo reached over 273,000 tons with bulk cargo at 325,000 tons during the period. This update came as part of the operator’s ongoing transparency efforts.
The company’s update further noted almost 25,000 units of Roll-on/Roll-off cargo and more than 112,000 head of livestock processed across the ports. These details provide a full picture of the activity at Hamad Port, Ruwais Port and Old Doha Port. Mwani Qatar operates these key assets and delivers services including pilotage, towage and cargo storage. The operator is a strategic partner in Qatar’s logistics infrastructure.
Data from Mwani Qatar for the first quarter showed more than 291,000 TEUs handled between January and March. This laid the foundation for the half-year result as monthly volumes fluctuated but remained robust. In January the ports managed 128,229 TEUs, up 3 percent from January 2025, the operator’s earlier reports indicated. The growth trajectory has been evident across multiple cargo categories.
Container handling in May exceeded 73,000 units, reflecting a 44 percent jump from April according to Mwani Qatar. The following month saw more than 78,000 TEUs and 121 vessels, with the latter up 21 percent from May. Such sequential gains have characterized port operations through the first six months.
A March 2026 report from Mwani Qatar placed container volumes at 44,456 TEUs for that month with 85 vessels received. General cargo stood at 30,716 tons and bulk at 40,663 tons in March. The consistent reporting allows stakeholders to monitor trends in real time. February had separately shown a 5 percent rise in container handling from the prior year.
Qatar recorded a trade surplus of 7,300 QAR million in March 2026, according to Trading Economics data, illustrating the broader economic activity supported by port throughput. The ports play an integral part in facilitating imports and exports beyond the energy sector. Mwani Qatar continues to issue periodic updates on its performance via public channels.
