The General Authority for Statistics released full-year figures on March 9 showing the Kingdom’s economy expanded across all major activities in 2025. Real GDP at constant prices rose 4.5 percent from the previous year while the nominal value climbed to 4.789 trillion riyals equivalent to $1.28 trillion. Crude oil and natural gas activities accounted for the largest share at 17.1 percent of total output according to the authority.

According to the GASTAT assessment oil activities grew 5.7 percent for the year while non-oil activities advanced 4.9 percent and government activities increased 0.9 percent. The authority’s breakdown listed wholesale and retail trade along with restaurants and hotels as the next largest components at 12.3 percent of GDP followed by manufacturing excluding oil refining at 11.1 percent and construction at 8.0 percent. These results derive from the official national accounts compiled by the statistical body.

GASTAT data further indicated the economy grew 5.0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 on an annual basis with crude oil and natural gas activities surging 12.4 percent year on year. Wholesale retail restaurants and hotels posted 5.4 percent annual growth in the period as well. Oil activities contributed 2.6 percentage points to the quarterly expansion while non-oil activities added 2.4 points according to the official statistics with seasonally adjusted figures showing non-oil at 0.9 points and oil at 0.5 points.

The 2025 performance accelerated from the 2.7 percent growth recorded in 2024 according to Trading Economics compilations of national statistics. World Bank data placed Saudi real GDP growth at 2.6 percent for 2024 before the rebound driven by higher oil output and domestic demand. Such figures align with recovery trends that followed a 4.3 percent contraction in 2020 as reported in historical series from the same multilateral institution.

A Saudi Vision 2030 annual report published in April 2026 noted non-oil activities contributed approximately 55 percent to real GDP in 2025 while the Public Investment Fund expanded assets under management to $925 billion. The report highlighted that small and medium enterprises now number 1.7 million supporting 8.88 million jobs that represent 22.9 percent of GDP. These metrics reflect ongoing implementation of the diversification program first outlined in 2016.

IMF assessments referenced in economic outlooks project Saudi growth at 3.1 percent for 2026 as both oil and non-oil sectors stabilize. S&P Global Ratings data has tracked consistent non-oil GDP expansion between 4.3 and 4.9 percent in recent years despite energy market fluctuations. The World Bank has similarly forecasted non-oil gains averaging around 4.5 percent annually through the remainder of the decade.
