Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, chairman of Qatar Chamber, commended ongoing national efforts to advance the rights of persons with disabilities and promote their inclusion across society. Al-Thani noted that this focus has taken on greater significance with Qatar scheduled to host the Fourth Global Disability Summit in 2028. The chairman described the summit as a reflection of the country’s dedication to equal opportunities and its growing role as an international partner in human development initiatives.

According to Al-Thani, the private sector stands as a central partner in integrating persons with disabilities into the workforce. Qatar Chamber has implemented multiple initiatives to build the skills and capacities of people with disabilities, moving beyond conventional care models toward economic empowerment and active participation in national growth. The chairman outlined the need for a full ecosystem that delivers training, rehabilitation, workplace modifications, human resources preparation and continuous backing to secure lasting employment outcomes.

Qatar Chamber signed a cooperation agreement with the Volunteer Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities to deliver targeted training and job placements, the chamber’s website reported. Al-Thani highlighted plans to deepen ties with that volunteer initiative and similar bodies to improve links between them and private companies. This cooperation, he added, will promote awareness of appropriate employment openings and encourage firms to create inclusive workplaces that draw on the abilities of persons with disabilities.

The Planning and Statistics Authority maintains datasets that track the number of persons with disabilities by economic activity, nationality, gender and employment sector for the period from 2010 to 2020. Those official records supply a baseline for measuring workforce participation and shaping future policies aimed at greater inclusion. Such statistics, according to available authority resources, help identify patterns across different industries and inform efforts to expand opportunities.

Al-Thani stated that aligning global perspectives and introducing impactful programs allows Qatar to convert disability-related obstacles into avenues for investment in human capital both locally and worldwide. The chairman pointed to the necessity of sustained collaboration among stakeholders to ensure these measures produce tangible results in the labour market. Qatar Chamber continues to support private sector contributions that align with these broader national objectives.
