The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has extended its backing to Techies Infotech as the information technology company prepares to establish operations in South Africa, according to a statement from the chamber distributed via the Emirates News Agency. Chamber officials highlighted the move as part of ongoing initiatives to assist UAE-based firms in accessing new markets, with South Africa serving as a strategic gateway into the Southern African Development Community region. The support includes advisory services on regulatory compliance and networking opportunities with local business leaders.

Techies Infotech, a provider of software solutions and digital transformation services, plans to open an office in Johannesburg to serve clients across multiple sectors including finance and logistics, the chamber said in the announcement. The company’s leadership views the expansion as a step toward capturing demand in a market where digital adoption has accelerated following the COVID-19 pandemic. South African authorities have welcomed foreign technology investment through incentives outlined in the country’s economic reconstruction plan.

Bilateral trade between the UAE and South Africa reached $1.2 billion in 2024, according to data from the UAE Federal Customs Authority, reflecting steady growth in non-oil exports that include technology services and machinery. The Dubai Chamber has facilitated more than 50 similar market-entry missions for UAE companies into African nations over the past two years, its records show. These efforts form part of the chamber’s Africa Focus Strategy launched in 2022 to position Dubai as a hub for intra-regional commerce.

In the announcement, chamber representatives noted that Techies Infotech’s expertise in cloud computing and cybersecurity aligns with South Africa’s priorities for digital infrastructure development. The company has committed to local partnerships that will include training programs for South African IT professionals. Such collaborations are expected to contribute to job creation in the technology sector, which employs over 200,000 people nationwide according to South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.

The expansion comes as UAE-Africa non-oil trade volumes have grown at an average annual rate of 8 percent since 2020, a trend documented in reports from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Techies Infotech joins a growing cohort of Dubai firms entering the South African market, where government data places technology imports among the top 10 categories by value. Chamber officials indicated that further support mechanisms, including participation in upcoming trade exhibitions, would be made available to the company.
