QNB Group announced that it will participate in the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg United Nations General Assembly Special Edition, scheduled to take place in New York City on September 20 alongside the UNGA high-level week. A delegation headed by Group CEO Abdulla Mubarak al-Khalifa will represent the bank at the event where QNB serves as presenting sponsor. The participation aims to build relationships with global business and financial figures while identifying cross-border trade and investment prospects across multiple regions.
According to a statement issued by the bank and distributed by the Qatar News Agency, al-Khalifa said, “QNB’s scale and international reach give us a strong ability to support trade and investment across markets. Through our network spanning 28 countries across Asia, Europe and Africa, we combine local market knowledge, financing capacity and corporate and institutional banking expertise to help clients access capital, enter new markets and pursue cross-border growth.” The CEO added that continued sponsorship of the forum demonstrates how the bank applies its international capabilities and that the UNGA Special Edition will allow direct engagement with decision-makers to convert dialogue into concrete opportunities.
Qatar News Agency figures indicate the forum will convene executives, policymakers and investors to examine prevailing economic and investment trends that influence global markets. QNB executives plan to hold targeted discussions with international stakeholders during the one-day programme. The bank expects the engagement to expand client and investor networks while generating fresh cross-border business prospects.
QNB data places the group among the largest financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa with an established presence that positions it as a connector between international capital sources and growth markets in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The statement highlighted that the sponsorship forms part of the bank’s broader strategy to reinforce its global platform and institutional ties. Participation also aligns with efforts to support Qatar’s emergence as a hub for business, investment and economic exchange.
Bloomberg has organised previous editions of the Qatar Economic Forum that attracted heads of state, finance ministers and chief executives for high-level panels on topics ranging from energy transition to supply-chain resilience. The UNGA Special Edition builds on that format by synchronising with the annual United Nations gathering that typically draws representatives from more than 190 member states. Industry assessments from regional banking reports note that such platforms have historically facilitated announcements on investment commitments exceeding several billion dollars across participating economies.
The bank’s international network covers key markets that collectively account for a substantial share of global trade flows according to International Monetary Fund trade statistics. QNB has maintained its sponsorship role in successive forum iterations as part of a consistent approach to promoting dialogue on economic cooperation. Executives will focus sessions on trends that include sustainable finance and digital economy integration within emerging markets.
