Mwani Qatar reported that Qatari ports handled more than 78,000 twenty-foot equivalent units in June, marking a 13 percent increase from May. The company recorded 121 vessel arrivals during the month, up 21 percent from the previous period. Its figures also placed general cargo at roughly 23,000 tons and bulk cargo above 67,000 tons, the latter reflecting a 40 percent rise compared with May.

The data released by Mwani Qatar covers activity at Hamad Port, Ruwais Port and Old Doha Port, which together form the backbone of the country’s maritime trade network. A UNIS port profile places Hamad Port’s designed annual capacity at 7.5 million TEUs, supporting its role as the primary facility for containerised shipments. Mwani Qatar manages these assets under oversight from the Ministry of Transport, aligning operations with national goals for economic diversification.

According to The Peninsula Qatar, the three ports achieved a full-year total of 1.46 million TEUs in 2025, with transshipment at Hamad Port accounting for nearly half that volume. CEIC Data reported Qatar’s annual container port throughput at 1.421 million TEUs for 2024, illustrating a pattern of incremental yearly expansion. Mwani Qatar’s sequential monthly updates help track these trends against broader Gulf trade dynamics.

In May, Mwani Qatar had reported more than 73,000 TEUs processed, itself a 44 percent gain from April, according to company statements shared on social media. The latest June performance adds to cumulative volumes that have shown resilience despite global supply chain fluctuations. Industry reports indicate that such growth supports Qatar’s imports of food, construction materials and consumer goods while facilitating exports.

The International Monetary Fund has projected 6.1 percent real GDP growth for Qatar in 2026, with non-hydrocarbon sectors including logistics expected to contribute meaningfully. Mwani Qatar’s port statistics feed into this outlook by demonstrating reliable throughput that underpins trade surpluses recorded in official economic bulletins. Hamad Port alone processes the vast majority of the country’s seaborne cargo, reinforcing its strategic importance.

Mwani Qatar’s announcement on its official channels highlighted these June gains without providing year-on-year comparisons for the specific month. The operator continues to issue such monthly figures to offer transparency on port utilisation and cargo flows. These releases form part of ongoing efforts to position Qatar as a competitive logistics centre in the region.
