The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce extended the invitation to Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani during a meeting with Qatar Chamber board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli. Mohamad Mourad, vice president for international relations, and Rafael Solimeo, director and head of the international office, presented the request for the Qatar Chamber chairman to address the gathering. The officials reviewed opportunities to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Qatar and Brazil. They explored the chambers’ potential contributions toward expanding private sector roles and mutual investments across multiple fields.
The forum is scheduled for August 25 in Sao Paulo under the theme ‘The Global Economy in Transformation: A New Agenda between Brazil and the Arab Countries’. It is organised in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers and under the auspices of the League of Arab States, according to the Gulf Times account. The fifth edition continues a series that began in 2016. The most recent prior gathering attracted 3,000 participants and featured 50 speakers from 12 countries, the forum’s organisers reported on its website.
Discussions during the meeting addressed development of a roadmap to boost bilateral trade with an emphasis on food security and food industries, the Gulf Times reported. United Nations COMTRADE database figures show Brazil exported goods valued at $373 million to Qatar in 2025. Qatar exported goods worth 73.2 million Qatari riyals to Brazil in March 2026, according to Observatory of Economic Complexity data. The talks also examined prospects for joint ventures and alliances between companies from both sides.
Al-Obaidli lauded the strong relations between Qatar and Brazil in his response to the visitors. He stressed the Qatar Chamber’s commitment to enhancing trade cooperation between the two countries. The board member encouraged establishment of joint ventures and alliances to increase overall trade exchange. He highlighted the importance of private sector engagement in achieving sustained growth in bilateral economic ties.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani has chaired the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2006, according to the chamber’s official records. He has simultaneously led the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry since 2014 and heads the International Chamber of Commerce Qatar national committee. His tenure has centred on promoting Qatar’s business community internationally and creating opportunities for Qatari enterprises abroad. The chairman maintains active roles in several Arab-foreign joint business councils.
Mourad invited the Qatar Chamber to participate in the forum to help consolidate relations and private sector partnerships between Brazil and Arab nations, the Gulf Times stated. The vice president framed the event as a platform to address evolving global economic conditions through enhanced regional collaboration. Food security priorities discussed in the meeting align with broader bilateral interests in agricultural and industrial cooperation.
