The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology collaborated with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank, Ooredoo and Qatar Post to stage the unified platform enabling direct engagement between SMEs and accredited technology providers. Sessions targeted priority sectors that included retail and wholesale, transport and storage, tourism, education and healthcare where solutions for online presence, e-commerce platforms and cloud services were showcased. The gathering formed part of sustained national efforts to embed digital tools within the business community and elevate SME contributions to the wider economy, according to Gulf Times.
Direct matchmaking sessions permitted SMEs to explore tailored offerings with providers while dedicated networking areas facilitated knowledge sharing and potential collaborations across the participating organisations. The event structure addressed typical obstacles that smaller enterprises face when pursuing digital upgrades independently. Gulf Times reported that the initiative reflected coordinated input from government bodies and ecosystem partners to heighten sector-wide competitiveness.
Faraj Jassim Abdulla, Director of Digital Economy Department at MCIT, said, “MCIT continues its efforts to empower SMEs to leverage digital technologies as a key driver for competitiveness and sustainable economic growth. Initiatives such as this provide a national platform that supports businesses’ readiness for digital transformation, enhances productivity, and strengthens the ability of the business sector to keep pace with the evolving digital economy.” Abdulla added, “By connecting enterprises with an integrated ecosystem of solution providers and national expertise, the Ministry continues to support the transition towards innovation and a knowledge-based economy in line with the objectives of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.”
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry affirmed that supporting SMEs represents one of the key pillars for enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy while providing a business environment that stimulates growth and innovation. Officials detailed the ministry’s services that cover protection of intellectual property rights including copyright, trademarks and patents in addition to commercial registration, licensing and electronic services that simplify procedures. These actions enable companies to conduct business in line with approved regulatory frameworks and help instil a culture of innovation and intellectual property protection, the ministry stated.
Dr Hamad Salem Mejegheer, executive director of SME Development at Qatar Development Bank, said, “This event highlights the role coordinated national efforts can play in accelerating digital transformation across Qatar’s business ecosystem. More broadly, it points to the value of creating opportunities for SMEs to engage directly with digital solution providers.” Mejegheer noted that QDB places strong emphasis on empowering SMEs to adopt digital transformation in ways that enhance their efficiency and competitiveness through an integrated support framework that begins with digital readiness assessments and extends to grants, financing and advisory services.
The SME Go Digital Program functions as MCIT’s national initiative that delivers specialised assessments, connections to digital solution providers, training on emerging technologies and access to financing opportunities in partnership with Qatar Development Bank. A Mordor Intelligence assessment found the Qatar digital transformation market worth USD 10.68 billion in 2026 and growing at a compound annual growth rate of 16.16 percent to USD 22.59 billion by 2031. Small and medium-sized enterprises within the sector are projected to record an 18.27 percent CAGR in digital adoption through 2031, the report indicated.
The Digital Agenda 2030 serves as the national roadmap for digital transformation and as an executive pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, according to MCIT. It aims to generate 40 billion QAR in non-hydrocarbon GDP and create 26,000 ICT sector jobs by 2030, ministry figures show. The United Nations recognised the Digital Agenda 2030 as a global best practice in digital transformation. Qatar entered the top 20 in the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2025, the National Planning Council announced.
