Qatar News Agency reported on Wednesday that MEEZA has awarded a construction contract exceeding QAR 500 million to Elegancia for the development of a new data centre. The agreement forms part of MEEZA’s broader strategy to expand its portfolio of facilities engineered for high reliability and energy efficiency. Elegancia, a subsidiary of Estithmar Holding specialising in electromechanical and construction services, will handle the build as the company seeks to meet rising demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure across Qatar.
MEEZA’s July 2026 announcement detailed an additional QAR 1.6 billion murabaha facility from Dukhan Bank to fund data centre expansions including M-Vault 6, 7 and 8. Those projects are expected to deliver approximately 44 megawatts of new capacity and help lift the company’s total beyond 60 megawatts according to MEEZA figures. The latest contract award to Elegancia aligns with that growth trajectory and comes after earlier long-term agreements with global hyperscalers valued at more than QAR 350 million and QAR 750 million respectively.
The new facility will integrate into MEEZA’s existing network of Tier III certified data centres which currently include M-Vault 2, 3 and 5. MEEZA data from its February 2026 results show the company achieved 7.8 percent revenue growth to QAR 403.3 million in 2025 driven by data centre and managed services expansion. Construction timelines and specific capacity details for the Elegancia project were not disclosed in the Qatar News Agency bulletin.
Elegancia has demonstrated regional delivery capability through a separate SAR 829 million mechanical package contract secured earlier this month for the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium in Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya City according to project announcements. That four-year assignment running through 2030 involves HVAC, firefighting and building management systems for the 47,000-seat venue slated to host FIFA World Cup 2034 matches. The Qatar-based contractor’s track record in complex MEP works positioned it for the MEEZA assignment.
Qatar’s digital infrastructure push reflects wider GCC investment in data centres to support artificial intelligence and cloud adoption. MEEZA’s operational highlights from early 2026 noted progress on multiple M-Vault developments with M-Vault 6 targeting initial operations by the end of 2027. The company has maintained a strong safety and delivery record including completion of a prior 4-megawatt expansion nine months ahead of schedule under one of its hyperscaler agreements.
