CNN revealed in a statement released on October 19 that His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, will participate as a distinguished guest at Global Perspectives: In Doha, the network’s first event of its flagship series in the Middle East and Gulf region. The one-day gathering, set for October 29 at the Rosewood Doha, will convene political figures, business executives and cultural leaders for conversations on topics ranging from artificial intelligence and economics to energy, sport and culture. According to the CNN announcement, the program will focus on the concept of the Invisible World, probing systems that underpin economies, communications and daily life while assessing the rising importance of human creativity and resilience amid accelerating technology.
The latest additions to the speaker list, detailed in the CNN press release, include Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as Chairperson of Qatar Museums and several other entities, along with His Excellency Dr Mohamed Farid Saleh, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade. Further participants encompass Yifan David Li, CEO and co-founder of Hesai Technology, Hing Chao, Chairman of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport, Katie Koch, President and CEO of TCW, Lei Zhang, Founder and Chairman of Envision, and Majid Jafar, CEO of Crescent Petroleum. A CNN assessment found that these voices will complement earlier confirmed names to deliver multifaceted insights into shifts affecting global affairs.
Earlier announcements from CNN in September had already confirmed an initial lineup featuring Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority, and Alex Mashrabov, Chief Executive Officer of Higgsfield. The September release from the network also named Ester Baiget, President and CEO of Novonesis, Tareq Amin, Chief Executive Officer of HUMAIN, Vitali Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv and former heavyweight boxing champion, and Yasmina El Abd, an actress and singer. CNN data places the full roster as a blend of regional powerhouses and international innovators positioned to address undercurrents in technology, finance and geopolitics.
Global Perspectives: In Doha was originally scheduled for April but postponed due to regional developments, CNN reported in a June update that set the new October date following discussions between network executives and Qatari partners. The series launched with an Africa-focused edition in London in November 2025, according to CNN’s own records of the franchise, before expanding to this Middle East chapter hosted in partnership with Media City Qatar. Ellana Lee, Group Senior Vice President, GM APAC, and Global Head of Productions at CNN, stated in a related release, “When the world can feel increasingly divided, we believe theres real value in bringing different people and their unique perspectives together. Global Perspectives is a place where the ideas that are shaping our world can be voiced and shared. Its a meeting place where CNNs award-winning journalism can partner with thought leaders to create meaningful dialogue. This is CNNs first Global Perspectives event here in the Middle East, and it could hardly come at a better time. Theres no better place to host it than here in Qatar, in the heart of the region.”
Media City Qatar outlined preparations for the summit in a briefing covered by the Qatar News Agency on the same day as the latest CNN update, with CEO Hamad Omar Al Mannai noting the timeliness of elevating regional voices through the platform. The event will feature moderators including Caroline Faraj, Vice President and CNN Arabic Editor-in-Chief, alongside anchors such as Wolf Blitzer, Christiane Amanpour, Richard Quest, Becky Anderson, Eleni Giokos and Bijan Hosseini. A CNN statement indicated that highlights and interviews from the proceedings will air across its platforms, culminating in a dedicated broadcast on CNN International and for All Access subscribers in the United States.
The gathering builds on CNN’s expanded operations in Qatar, initiated last year as part of a broader regional content strategy, according to network filings on its activities in the Gulf. Speakers from investment, trade and technology sectors are expected to examine how Gulf states are influencing worldwide economic trajectories and innovation pathways. CNN’s assessment of the program underscored its role in fostering dialogue at a moment of rapid global transformation.
