Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, representative of the ruler of Ajman for administrative and financial affairs and chairman of the Ajman Department of Finance, endorsed three packages of initiatives that together comprise 15 artificial intelligence projects. The Ajman Media Office said the measures form an integrated plan to develop the governmental financial system over the coming three years. Implementation is scheduled across 2027 to 2029, aligning with broader emirate-level efforts to integrate advanced technologies into public sector functions.

The approval arrives as the Ajman Artificial Intelligence Programme, launched under directives from Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, gains momentum across government entities. A statement from the media office noted that the finance-focused initiatives will target enhancements in operational efficiency and service delivery within the department. This step builds on earlier programme milestones, including the approval of an AI conceptual reference earlier in 2026 that established unified terminology and governance standards for AI adoption.

A KPMG benchmarking study published in August 2025 found that 49 percent of UAE organisations reported active AI plans in their finance functions, compared with 35 percent globally. The consultancy’s assessment showed that 59 percent of UAE entities were running or planning AI pilot projects in finance, with generative AI for financial reporting expected to rise from 41 percent current usage to 88 percent within three years. Such trends across the federation provide context for targeted departmental initiatives in Ajman.

Microsoft’s Global AI Diffusion Report for the first quarter of 2026 placed the UAE first worldwide with a 70.1 percent AI usage rate among the working-age population. The technology company’s data indicated the UAE had become the first economy to exceed the 70 percent adoption threshold, supported by investments in skills, infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. The Arab Monetary Fund separately highlighted a positive link between AI readiness and improved tax collection across Arab states, though it stressed that strong governance remains essential for realising revenue gains.

Related activities in Ajman have included a two-day AI laboratory concluded on October 23, 2026, during which Sheikh Humaid bin Ammar Al Nuaimi reviewed participant-developed projects aimed at addressing real government challenges. The Ajman Media Office reported that the lab produced a portfolio of ideas to be evaluated in subsequent phases of the programme, which targets 100 AI initiatives in support of Ajman Vision 2030. Earlier, in September 2026, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi commended the implementation of 27 separate AI initiatives at the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, demonstrating coordinated progress across entities.

The latest finance department approvals follow the UAE federal government’s Agentic AI Project, which aims to convert half of federal sectors, services and operations to autonomous AI-driven models within two years. According to the Ministry of Finance, generative AI tools have already lifted first-contact resolution rates at its call centre to 97.11 percent in the first half of 2026. The Ajman Department of Finance has previously showcased projects such as a smart financial adviser at exhibitions, indicating continuity in its technology integration pathway.
