The Al-Attiyah Foundation honoured Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Hajri for his contributions to developing Qatar’s energy sector during its 2026 international awards ceremony that recognised a total of eight leaders. Al-Hajri who leads Nebras Energy as managing director and chief executive stood out among the recipients at the gathering held on October 20 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. The foundation which organises the event annually presented six lifetime achievement awards alongside two inaugural young energy leader honours according to its announcement.
Dr Saud bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees oversaw the proceedings that drew more than 300 executives policymakers and diplomats. He described the selections as recognition of sustained efforts to strengthen energy systems and international cooperation the foundation reported. This marked the first ceremony under his leadership which aims to extend the work begun by his late father Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah a former Qatari minister central to the nation’s emergence as a major energy producer.
The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy Awards focus on lifetime contributions across fields such as natural gas renewables education and policy the foundation stated in its release. Introduction of the young energy leader category reflects a commitment to celebrating impact at every career stage rather than only established careers. All honourees were revealed during the evening event sponsored by ExxonMobil with additional backing from QatarEnergy QNB Shell and other member organisations.
Previous years have seen figures such as Patrick Pouyanné and Steven Chu join the foundation’s alumni network for their respective advancements in natural gas and energy education according to the Al-Attiyah Foundation website. Those inductees exemplify the programme’s emphasis on individuals whose work has shaped industry practices and future leadership. The 2026 selections continue that tradition while highlighting both regional achievements in Qatar and broader global progress toward sustainable energy solutions.
Al-Hajri’s background includes board positions at prominent Qatari firms and education from Qatar University Cardiff University and Harvard Business School the foundation noted. His award underscores the role of Qatari executives in expanding the country’s liquefied natural gas capabilities and investment portfolio. Such recognitions arrive as the global energy landscape navigates transitions toward diversified sources and reduced emissions the foundation assessment found.
Support from the listed corporate members has enabled the foundation to produce regular energy market reviews and host dialogues on key sector issues its announcement added. The event served to reinforce dialogue among stakeholders on securing reliable supplies while addressing environmental priorities. Attendance by senior international representatives highlighted the awards’ standing within the energy community.
