Financial results published on the Qatar Stock Exchange showed the Qatari gas transport company’s earnings per share eased to QR0.23 from QR0.24 in the corresponding period of 2025. Nakilat chief executive Abdullah Al-Sulaiti attributed the performance to persistent regional conditions that weighed on the marine services business. The company nevertheless maintained stable operations in its core LNG shipping activities while implementing cost controls across affected areas.

Al-Sulaiti said the firm continued to support Qatar’s energy transportation needs despite the challenges. Marine services encompassing ship repair, shipping agency operations and marine towing experienced reduced activity during the period. The chief executive noted that targeted expense rationalisation helped offset some of the pressure while preserving fleet reliability.

“We reaffirm our firm commitment to serving our customers under all circumstances,” Al-Sulaiti said in the company statement. Nakilat has sustained high levels of operational safety and customer focus even as external factors disrupted certain segments. The results reflect the resilience built through disciplined management of its diversified maritime portfolio.

The company maintains one of the world’s largest fleets of liquefied natural gas carriers, with 72 vessels including 69 LNG carriers as of the first quarter of 2026, according to earlier company disclosures. This scale underpins its strategic role in Qatar’s LNG export chain, which supplies markets across more than 40 countries. Nakilat’s position has been reinforced by long-term charter agreements and technical expertise in energy transport.

Nakilat is progressing with an extensive fleet expansion that includes an orderbook of 40 newbuild vessels under construction at shipyards in South Korea and China, previous company announcements show. The programme encompasses both conventional LNG carriers and specialised LPG and ammonia vessels to meet rising global demand for cleaner fuels. Construction milestones such as steel cutting and keel laying have advanced steadily through the year.

The nine-month figures follow a first-half net profit of QR857 million that the company reported in July, illustrating consistent quarterly contributions even amid volatility. Nakilat has also secured international recognition for its financing initiatives supporting the expansion, including an award for an export credit deal tied to 25 LNG carriers. Such steps enhance financial flexibility while aligning with Qatar’s broader energy strategy.
