Qatar Insurance Company posted insurance revenue of QR4.8 billion in the first half of 2026, a 15 percent increase from the prior-year period, according to the company’s interim results statement. Gross written premiums rose 4.3 percent to QR5.9 billion during the six months. The insurance service result stood at QR202 million, an 8.4 percent decline on the previous corresponding period. Investment income grew 2.8 percent to QR477 million, delivering a yield of 5.3 percent.

The statement from QIC put the net profit for the period at QR365 million. Net profit attributable to shareholders reached QR354 million, producing earnings per share of QR0.076. This shareholder net profit was modestly below the figure recorded in the first half of the previous year.

Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal al-Thani, chairman of QIC, said in the statement, “These results reflect the strength and resilience that define QIC. Even against this exceptional event, QIC has safeguarded shareholder value, maintained a strong capital position, and stayed the course on its strategic priorities. The board is confident that QIC’s diversified franchise, prudent risk management and clear strategy will continue to deliver long-term value for our shareholders.”

Group chief executive officer Salem al-Mannai noted in the announcement that the first half of 2026 tested the sector with an exceptional geopolitical event. “QIC faced it from a position of operational strength,” al-Mannai said. “Disciplined underwriting and a high-quality investment portfolio enabled us to absorb the impact on our insurance service result, while continuing to grow insurance revenue and gross written premiums, and increasing investment income.” He added that the group maintains strong and sufficient reserves in line with actuarial estimates.

Reinsurance News reported that QIC achieved a net profit of QAR 806 million for the full year 2025. That full-year result represented a 10 percent increase compared to 2024. QIC is recognised as the leading insurer in Qatar and the MENA region.

The company’s statement highlighted that its solvency and capital levels remained strong despite the pressures from the geopolitical event. This position supports continued execution of strategic priorities across its diversified operations. The group underlined its focus on prudent risk management throughout the reporting period.
