The Ministry of Justice reported that the volume of real estate transactions in sales contracts registered with its Real Estate Registration Department reached QR1,290,916,518 in August. A total of 424 real estate transactions were recorded during the month according to the department’s Real Estate Analytical Bulletin. Municipalities of Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Daayen led in transaction values followed by Al Wakrah, Umm Salal, Al Khor with Al Thakhira, Al Shamal and Al Shahaniya.

According to the bulletin’s Real Estate Market Index, Doha accounted for QR435,501,304 in transactions while Al Rayyan registered QR335,501,759 and Al Daayen QR175,170,269. Al Wakrah saw activity valued at QR148,559,213 with Umm Salal at QR123,981,137 as Al Khor and Al Thakhira combined for QR60,473,870. Al Shamal recorded QR8,321,324 in transactions and Al Shahaniya QR3,407,642 as the bulletin outlined the geographic spread of activity.

The ministry’s bulletin detailed that Doha and Al Rayyan each accounted for 28 percent of the total traded real estate area with Al Wakrah at 16 percent. Al Daayen represented 10 percent of the area traded while Umm Salal stood at 9 percent and Al Khor with Al Thakhira at 7 percent as Al Shamal and Al Shahaniya each contributed 1 percent. Doha also led in the share of properties sold during the month at 30 percent followed by Al Rayyan at 21 percent and Al Wakrah at 19 percent.

The bulletin noted that the 10 highest-value properties sold in August included four located in Doha, three in Al Rayyan and one in Umm Salal. Average prices varied across areas with Al Shahaniya recording QR206 per square foot as one of the lower-volume zones. These figures formed part of the comprehensive monthly overview issued by the Real Estate Registration Department.

Mortgage transactions totalled 103 with a combined value of QR4,007,423,360 in August according to the ministry’s data. Doha led in mortgage activity with 35 transactions representing 34 percent of the total while Al Rayyan followed with 30 transactions at 29.1 percent. Al Daayen registered 14 mortgage deals as the bulletin provided a full breakdown of this segment.

The Ministry of Justice figures for July showed a real estate trading volume of QR1.86bn with 1,485 transactions registered that month highlighting variations in monthly market activity. In August last year the bulletin recorded transactions valued at QR1.13bn with 329 deals completed indicating an increase in both value and volume over the year. The latest bulletin continues to track activity in a sector that forms a significant element of Qatar’s broader economic indicators.
