Qatar Chamber hosted a high-level Finnish business delegation on September 29, the organisation said in a statement. The delegation was led by Jarno Syrjälä, Under-Secretary of State and Deputy Minister for International Trade of Finland, while Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Chamber, headed the Qatari side. Other participants included Qatar Chamber board members Abdulrahman bin Abduljaleel Al Abdulghani, Ali bin Abdul Latif Al-Misnad, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli and Abdullah Al-Emadi together with acting general manager Ali Bu Sherbak Al-Mansori and Finnish Ambassador Juha Mustonen.

The Qatar Chamber reported that discussions examined opportunities for cooperation across investment, trade, manufacturing, security technology, artificial intelligence and additional areas of mutual interest. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim noted growing interest among Qatari businesspeople and investors in opportunities available in Finland. He pointed to established Finnish company presence in Qatar through investments and partnerships in technology, aviation, digitalisation and education.

Representatives from Finnish companies that included ReOrbit, Patria, Nokia, Temet, Verona Shelters and state-owned investment firm Tesi joined the talks, the chamber stated. Ambassador Juha Mustonen commended Qatar Chamber for convening the session that assembled the group of Finnish firms. The gathering enabled direct exchanges on potential joint projects between the two business communities.

A roundtable held in Helsinki in 2024 produced several memoranda of understanding, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Ministry figures show bilateral trade between the countries reached $107.6 million in 2023, with discussions then targeting energy, renewable projects, infrastructure, digital transformation and logistics services. The latest meeting continues that trajectory by focusing on private sector delivery.

Qatari officials have stressed the private sector’s central function in advancing economic relations with Finland, the chamber indicated. The Finnish delegation contributed specialised knowledge in defence technology, civil defence applications, satellite systems, space technology and telecommunications. Such expertise aligns with priorities that both sides have identified in successive engagements.

Earlier encounters this year, including a June meeting that proposed the September forum, laid groundwork for the current discussions, prior chamber statements show. Those sessions reviewed prospects in education, advanced industries and innovation alongside waste management and medical technology. The cumulative exchanges reflect sustained interest in matching Qatari investment capacity with Finnish technological capabilities.
