Cl-Robotix announced its intention to explore opportunities in Qatar, targeting the country’s efforts to enhance food security and reduce reliance on imported labour through advanced agricultural technologies. The Italian firm specialises in robotics solutions designed for precision farming tasks including monitoring, spraying and harvesting in challenging environments, according to industry profiles of similar European agritech developers. Qatar’s focus on innovation in agriculture has accelerated since the imposition of the 2017 blockade, prompting heavy investment in controlled-environment farming and automation to boost domestic production of key crops.

An IMARC Group assessment found the Qatar robotics market reached USD 125.6 million in 2025 and is forecast to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 15.05 percent through 2034, driven by smart infrastructure projects, hospitality innovation and healthcare modernisation. The assessment noted particular momentum in agricultural applications as authorities seek to integrate autonomous systems into greenhouse operations and open-field cultivation across limited arable land. Recent deployments, including Japanese collaborations on AI-supported agricultural research reviewed by the Ministry of Municipality in October 2026, illustrate the state’s systematic approach to technology transfer in the sector.

The planned entry comes ahead of ROBOTECH 26, scheduled for late October 2026 in Doha, which organisers told The Peninsula Qatar is intended to position the country as a regional hub for advanced technology investment under its Digital Agenda 2030. Stallion, the organising company, highlighted expected participation from more than 200 firms specialising in robotics and artificial intelligence, creating a platform for partnerships between Qatari entities and international innovators. Cl-Robotix’s move reflects a broader pattern of European agritech companies seeking GCC footholds as the bloc prioritises sustainable food systems.

Qatar’s agricultural robots segment forms part of a wider national strategy to diversify beyond hydrocarbons, with Public Authority for Customs data showing rising imports of precision farming equipment in recent years. Comparable Italian firms have previously showcased autonomous rovers at events such as the 2023 Doha Horticultural Expo, demonstrating applications in orchards and vineyards that could translate to Qatari greenhouse settings. The Directorate of Agricultural Research has conducted trials with various robotic platforms to evaluate performance under local climatic conditions.

Industry executives have noted that successful market entry will depend on adapting solutions to Qatar’s extreme temperatures and water-scarcity challenges while complying with strict regulatory standards for imported technology. Cl-Robotix has yet to disclose specific timelines, local partners or product lines slated for introduction, according to available statements. Further announcements are anticipated as the firm engages with stakeholders ahead of the ROBOTECH exhibition.
