The Qatar Financial Centre announced that Fiera Capital, an independent asset management firm with approximately $115 billion in assets under management as of June 2026, will conduct business in Qatar as Fiera Capital (UK) LTD QFC Branch. The UK subsidiary received initial authorisation from the QFC Regulatory Authority, enabling the Canadian company to engage directly with regional investors from its new Doha base. This development follows the centre’s statement issued on Wednesday detailing the licensing approval. The move aligns with Fiera Capital’s ongoing efforts to expand across Gulf markets after earlier steps in the United Arab Emirates.
Qatar Financial Centre Chief Executive Officer Mansoor Rashid Al Khater welcomed the addition in the official statement. “Fiera Capital is a welcome addition to QFC’s financial services community,” he said. Al Khater added that the decision by an established international asset manager to open a local office reflects growing confidence in Qatar as a regional financial hub and adds further depth to the asset management sector. His comments underscore the centre’s success in drawing global participants to its onshore platform in Doha.
Klaus Schuster, executive director and chief executive of Fiera Capital for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, outlined the firm’s expectations in the same announcement. Schuster said opening a local office in Qatar will enable the company to work directly with investors and contribute actively to the country’s aspirations under Qatar National Vision 2030. He expressed gratitude to the Qatar Financial Centre for the partnership as operations commence. The executive’s remarks highlight how the branch supports both investor access and alignment with Qatar’s long-term economic goals.
A Financial Times report from June 2025 noted that Fiera Capital had agreed with the Qatar Investment Authority to manage a $200 million fund focused on Qatari equities, with plans then announced for a Doha office. The Canadian firm, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, first established a Gulf foothold by opening an office in Abu Dhabi in February 2024 through a regionalised distribution model targeting all six GCC countries. That earlier expansion, detailed in a Fiera Capital press release at the time, laid groundwork for the current QFC authorisation. Such sequential steps illustrate the company’s methodical approach to Middle East growth.
The Qatar Financial Centre, established in 2005, functions as an onshore business and financial hub located in Doha that provides a distinct regulatory framework for international firms. It has registered a steady increase in asset management companies over recent years as Qatar pursues economic diversification beyond energy exports. QFC figures released in August 2026 showed the centre registered 84 new firms in the wealth sector during the first half of the year as part of a 37 percent overall increase in registrations that brought the total number of firms to more than 4,700 by the end of June. This environment has proven attractive for managers seeking to serve institutional clients in the Gulf.
Fiera Capital maintains a global presence spanning four continents with headquarters in Montreal, according to company disclosures. Its latest Qatar branch adds to the firm’s existing Middle East footprint and coincides with rising institutional demand for diversified investment options in the region. The authorisation is expected to allow tailored services for local and international clients while reinforcing Qatar’s position in the asset management landscape.
