The Qatar Central Bank reported that official reserves jumped 10.85 percent to QR223.447 billion in September 2026 from a year earlier. This increase of QR21.888 billion came despite a QR44.599 billion reduction in holdings of foreign bonds and treasury bills to QR88.280 billion, according to the bank. The data reflects shifts in the composition of assets held by the monetary authority.

According to the Qatar Central Bank, gold reserves expanded by QR4.378 billion to reach QR56.408 billion at the end of the month. Balances with foreign banks rose by QR62.153 billion to QR73.554 billion during the period under review. Special Drawing Rights deposits with the International Monetary Fund, however, edged down by QR45 million to QR5.203 billion, the bank’s statistics revealed.

Official reserves include foreign bonds and treasury bills along with cash at foreign banks, gold, SDRs, the IMF quota and additional liquid foreign currency assets, a Qatar Central Bank assessment detailed. These elements together with other liquidity measures make up the total international reserves and foreign currency holdings, the bank explained. The latest release covers developments through the end of September 2026.

World Bank data places Qatar’s reserves including gold at 55.85 billion U.S. dollars in 2025. The figure rose from 53.99 billion in 2024, according to the World Bank. The World Bank recorded a historical average of 11.51 billion dollars for the period from 1966 to 2025.

Trading Economics figures, sourced from the Qatar Central Bank, placed reserves at 262.254 billion Qatari riyals in August 2026. The September rise to 262.279 billion continues the recent monthly trend of stability at elevated levels, the platform’s compilation indicated. Such data helps track the central bank’s management of national wealth.

The Qatar Central Bank issues these updates monthly as part of its mandate to maintain financial stability. The September 2026 statistics were made public on October 8. Additional details on other monetary indicators are available in the bank’s regular publications.
