Qatar News Agency reported that KAHRAMAA secured the Arab Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2026 in recognition of its innovative programs in corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The Regional Network for Social Responsibility presented the honour at a ceremony in Bahrain as part of the International Day of Social Responsibility and associated forum on sustainable economy. Mohamed Ali Saleh Al Muhannadi, director of KAHRAMAA’s public relations and communication department, accepted the award on the corporation’s behalf. The selection process highlighted KAHRAMAA’s success in incorporating social responsibility principles throughout its operations and projects while advancing broader sustainable development objectives.

Al Muhannadi stated that this recognition reflects KAHRAMAA’s steadfast commitment to integrating social responsibility into all its activities and initiatives, driven by our belief in the important role institutions play in supporting sustainable development and serving society. He added that the award serves as a motivation for the corporation to continue launching impactful initiatives that contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and further enhance its positive impact on society and the environment. Qatar News Agency noted that the Arab Corporate Social Responsibility Award ranks among the region’s most prominent honours dedicated to corporate social responsibility and sustainability practices.

The same event organised by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility in Manama also saw Qatar Chamber receive recognition for its role in promoting CSR and sustainable practices across the business community. Qatar Chamber was represented by Hussein Yousef Al Abdulghani, its director of administrative and financial affairs, who collected the honour during the 2026 Arab CSR Award ceremony. Reports from the forum underlined the growing focus on private sector contributions to the United Nations sustainable development goals throughout the Arab region.

KAHRAMAA has developed a dedicated CSR strategy aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the UN sustainable development goals, according to the corporation’s published sustainability reports. The strategy identifies material issues, sets strategic objectives and establishes key performance indicators to measure social and environmental contributions. A conservation and efficiency drive under the national Tarsheed programme forms a central element of these efforts, targeting reduced consumption of electricity and water across households, businesses and government entities.

Qatar News Agency detailed in February how KAHRAMAA achieved key operational milestones in 2025 that advanced its sustainability agenda, including expansion of the electric vehicle charging network to 164 stations integrated with smart technology. The corporation raised installed solar capacity to around 1.675 gigawatts, enabling solar power to meet 13 to 15 percent of peak electricity demand while the Khuraisah plant delivered substantial emissions reductions. District cooling operations shifted 36 stations to treated water, conserving 17.1 million cubic metres of potable resources during the year.

The corporation launched a specialised YouTube channel for children in August to promote conservation habits through animated educational content, a step that builds on existing awareness campaigns. KAHRAMAA’s initiatives have extended to community engagement, including sustainability zones created for major events and support for workforce development programs that recognise labour contributions to national progress. These activities reinforce the utility’s position as a partner in Qatar’s long-term environmental and social objectives.
