The federal centre for agricultural exports reported that Russian agricultural product shipments grew 26 percent in value terms in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier. The total surpassed 20 billion dollars for the January to June period. Key contributors included grains and legumes with a 43 percent increase according to the centre. Oil and fat products rose 22 percent while fish and seafood exports were up 28 percent.
Volume of exports exceeded 33 million tonnes in the first five months of 2026 according to Russian Ministry of Agriculture figures. Grain exports saw volumes climb more than 40 percent in the January to May window. Nearly half of overall agricultural exports consisted of value-added products rather than raw commodities an analysis of the data indicated. The centre attributed the gains to steady demand for Russian food products abroad.
Exports to China amounted to about 5.7 million tonnes in the first half marking a 41 percent increase from the previous year Interfax reported. Revenue from these exports to China increased by 44 percent during the same timeframe. Agricultural supplies to the Middle East rose by almost a third according to Russian officials. China accounted for 25 percent of total agricultural export destinations in the period.
Russian food exports totalled 41.5 billion dollars in 2025 with a volume of 84 million tons according to Logos Press. The first half 2026 agricultural export value of over 20 billion dollars continued the upward trajectory from that baseline. Grain exports formed a major component of the 2026 growth with a 42 percent increase in value for the first five months as per available data.
In a related development Russian agricultural technology exports including fertilisers and plant protection products reached 5.9 billion dollars in the first half a 6 percent increase from the year earlier the ministry said via TV BRICS. Mineral fertilisers made up 5.5 billion dollars of the total with a nearly 7 percent rise. Brazil was the top destination for these fertilisers while exports to China in this category grew by one and a half times.
Overall Russian food and agricultural raw material exports stood at 18.4 billion dollars for January to May reflecting a 20.3 percent increase according to government trade statistics. The data aligns with the agro-export centre’s first half announcement. Officials listed vegetable oils oilseed products and seafood among the other leading categories in the export mix.
