The Ministry of Finance announced that the discussions with the three ministers took place as the State of Qatar hosts the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. During the talks, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari reviewed bilateral relations with each country and examined avenues to expand cooperation in the financial, economic, investment and trade sectors. The meetings also covered recent developments and topics of shared interest, according to separate statements issued by the ministry.

Qatar’s role as host of the AIIB gathering has facilitated multiple high-level engagements this week, a pattern consistent with the country’s growing profile in multilateral development finance. The ministry’s statements described the conversations as constructive opportunities to align on infrastructure priorities and sustainable growth strategies that underpin the AIIB’s mandate. Similar meetings have occurred throughout the event with other participating nations, the ministry has reported in parallel releases.

In the discussion with Nepal’s Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle, both sides emphasised practical steps to translate diplomatic ties into measurable economic outcomes. The ministry statement noted that the exchange built on existing frameworks for collaboration while identifying new areas for joint investment. Al Kuwari and Wagle agreed to maintain open channels for follow-up coordination on issues of mutual concern.

Talks with Bangladesh’s finance leadership focused on longstanding partnerships that already encompass energy trade and labour mobility. According to the ministry, the counterpart highlighted opportunities to broaden investment flows beyond current levels. The Qatari side expressed readiness to explore expanded private-sector involvement in projects that support diversified growth in both economies.

The session with Tanzania’s minister centred on emerging prospects in resource development and infrastructure financing. Ministry statements indicated that both officials reviewed regulatory environments that could facilitate greater Qatari participation in Tanzanian priority sectors. The conversation concluded with a commitment to further technical exchanges aimed at advancing concrete initiatives.

Qatar has maintained active membership in the AIIB since its early years, contributing to the bank’s capital base and supporting projects across Asia and Africa, multilateral records show. Hosting the 2026 annual meeting underscores the Gulf state’s commitment to South-South cooperation on development finance. The ministry has used the platform to schedule more than a dozen bilateral meetings with global counterparts this week alone.
