The Regional Network for Social Responsibility organised the gathering alongside the International Forum for Sustainable Economy 2026 with support from UNIDO’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office and the Union of Arab Chambers. Qatar Chamber sent Hussein Yousef Al-Abdulghani director of its administrative and financial affairs department to represent the organisation at the Bahrain event. The chamber received recognition at the fourth edition of the Arab CSR Award for its consistent promotion of responsible business practices that advance community welfare and environmental protection.

Qatar News Agency reported that Al-Abdulghani stated this honour reflects the interest of Qatar Chamber and its keenness to promote the culture of social responsibility and to establish the principles of sustainability in the business sector. He indicated that social responsibility represents one of the important pillars for the role of private sector institutions in supporting development and serving the community. The chamber official added that Qatar Chamber pays great attention to encouraging companies and business institutions to adopt responsible initiatives and practices that contribute to achieving sustainable development noting that this honour represents an incentive to continue efforts and enhance the role of the private sector in implementing community initiatives that achieve positive and sustainable impact.

The Arab CSR Award seeks to spotlight exemplary experiences and practices in corporate social responsibility while honouring entities that deliver tangible contributions toward sustainable development objectives. Previous cycles of the programme have recognised a variety of institutions across multiple sectors for programmes that integrate economic viability with social impact and governance standards. Organisers position the award as a driver for elevating the private sector’s involvement in addressing regional development challenges.

Qatar Chamber’s latest recognition fits within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030 which places heavy emphasis on environmental sustainability social progress and economic diversification. A study published in the journal Sustainability found that the country has recorded steady growth in corporate sustainability reporting with 170 companies including both large enterprises and SMEs issuing such documents in 2019. The trend which began gaining momentum in 2017 among major banks and telecommunications firms demonstrates widening adoption of environmental social and governance disclosures among Qatari businesses.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development reported that Qatar provided 911.2 million dollars in official development assistance during 2025 an increase of more than 23 percent in real terms from the prior year. These funds targeted areas such as health systems education skills development and climate-smart agriculture in line with the state’s broader sustainable development commitments. Such international engagement complements the chamber’s domestic CSR activities by fostering cross-border partnerships that reinforce Qatar’s contributions to global goals.

Events marking the International Day of Social Responsibility bring together government private sector and international bodies to exchange strategies for balancing growth with responsible stewardship. Qatar Chamber’s participation and subsequent award illustrate how business support organisations can model best practices that encourage wider uptake of sustainable methods across the Arab business community. The recognition also highlights ongoing collaboration between Qatari entities and regional networks dedicated to advancing corporate accountability and measurable social impact.
