Data compiled by Sri Lanka’s Export Development Board places Sri Lankan exports to Qatar at $19.71 million in 2025 with key shipments including tea packets other electrical and electronic products alcoholic beverages bananas and coconut milk powder. Imports from Qatar reached $45.2 million during the same period according to the same figures. The discussions build on the launch of the Qatar-Sri Lanka Business Council in 2024 which the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as a platform to promote bilateral trade investment and business collaboration. Subsequent memorandums of understanding signed between the council and Sri Lanka’s National Chamber of Exporters outlined cooperation in information exchange trade missions and joint events.
