Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev made the announcement during a meeting reviewing progress on seasonal field work. He noted that yields across most regions have surpassed those recorded in the previous year. Patrushev added that oilseed harvests are expected to total 35 million tonnes while almost 4.5 million tonnes of vegetables and potatoes have been gathered in the organized sector. The statement highlighted ongoing government efforts to supply farmers with necessary resources to secure the projected outcome.
Russia’s grain harvest projected at 140 mn tonnes in 2026 aligns closely with estimates from the Ministry of Economic Development, which placed the figure at 141.8 million tonnes. Rosstat data show that 141.2 million tonnes of grain were harvested in 2025. Patrushev’s press service quoted him as saying that current harvesting rates and volumes indicate the forecasts for main crops will be confirmed by actual results. The deputy prime minister stressed the importance of continued support measures for the agricultural community.
The Russian government has directed substantial funding toward the sector in recent months. Approximately 10 billion rubles were allocated to subsidize transportation of grain from major producing regions, according to official statements. Payment of export duties on grain has also been suspended through the end of 2026 as part of broader assistance to producers. These steps build on earlier initiatives aimed at maintaining output momentum.
Consultancy firm SovEcon has separately revised its projections for Russian grain exports in the 2026/27 marketing year. The firm now anticipates total grain shipments of 44.7 million tonnes, down from an earlier estimate of 49.4 million tonnes, citing persistent disruptions at Black Sea ports. SovEcon expects port operations in the Azov-Black Sea region to remain limited until at least 2027. Wheat export forecasts were lowered by 4.7 million tonnes to 36.7 million tonnes under the updated assessment.
Russia continues to rank among the world’s leading grain producers and exporters, with its volumes closely monitored by international organizations. The International Grains Council has reported that Russian supplies have played a significant role in global availability in recent seasons. A harvest near the projected level would help sustain deliveries to traditional buyers across the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Asia. Separate assessments from the U.S. Department of Agriculture have also tracked favorable conditions supporting winter wheat prospects this year.
Winter crop sowing has advanced past the halfway mark and already covers more than half the planned area, Patrushev reported. The deputy prime minister indicated that federal authorities are preparing additional measures to bolster farmers during the concluding phase of field operations. This announcement arrives as the harvest campaign nears completion in many districts across the country.
