QNB Group strengthened its cross-border lending activities in the three months to September by backing major investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure and digital connectivity, according to an announcement from the Qatari lender. Teams in Singapore and Indonesia arranged an initial term loan facility worth $3.1 billion for the Xancor AI compute platform, acting as mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners alongside international banks. The financing will support cloud infrastructure for artificial intelligence along with graphics processing units based on NVIDIA technology, the bank stated.

In a parallel transaction QNB Indonesia served as senior coordinator for a syndicated term loan of approximately $590 million extended to PT Nusantara Fiber Technology, the announcement continued. The combined value of these two facilities exceeded $3.6 billion and formed part of a wider push by the group into technology-driven infrastructure across Asia. QNB Capital additionally acted as global coordinator for a sovereign bond issuance by the State of Qatar that drew orders surpassing $6 billion, more than double the offered amount.

The third-quarter initiatives align with QNB Group’s broader strategy of connecting clients to international capital markets while expanding its own lending portfolio. The bank reported that loans and advances rose 6 percent year on year to 1.061 trillion Qatari riyals in the first nine months of 2026, according to its results released earlier in October. Net profit for the period increased 4 percent to 13.3 billion Qatari riyals, even as regional trade faced headwinds from geopolitical tensions.

QNB’s participation in these AI and fibre deals reflects growing institutional demand for specialised financing in high-growth technology sectors. A separate Wall Street Journal report on the bank’s results noted that management is actively targeting digital infrastructure, real estate and business expansion opportunities across its international footprint. Such activity positions the lender to capture a share of the rapid expansion projected for data-centre and AI-related investment in Asia and Europe.

The bank’s international network now spans more than 30 countries, enabling it to originate and distribute large-scale project finance that smaller institutions cannot readily support. By combining balance-sheet lending with capital-markets expertise, QNB has become a frequent arranger for sovereign and corporate borrowers seeking flexible structures, its announcement emphasised. These transactions also help diversify the group’s asset base beyond traditional energy and real-estate financing.

Industry benchmarks show that global spending on AI infrastructure is accelerating as enterprises scale cloud capacity and specialised hardware. QNB’s latest deals add to a series of similar commitments the bank has made in recent quarters, building on its established role in project and infrastructure finance across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Further growth in this segment is expected to continue as demand for computational power rises in line with adoption of generative artificial intelligence tools.
